in History of Versions

This version is already old. The newer one is 6.3.5.6 that fixes the quick editor problem mentioned below.

Note that the following list only shows new items as compared to earlier 6.3.4.2 pre-release. If you are not interested in these details and just want a nice overview of new features in version 6.3, please see http://whizfolders.com/whizfolders63.aspx.

Known problems in 6.3.5.5:

  • Quick editor problem: We just discovered a problem in version 6.3.5.5–the Enter key stopped working in Quick Editor so that the line feeds could not be entered. This problem only occurred in “Tabbed pages” mode. A workaround solution is to click on Main Document List tab and back on the document tab that you are working on. Another way is to stop using “Tabbed Pages.” This problem is now fixed in the newer version 6.3.5.6.
  • A one-time access violation was reported when exiting the program. However, we could not duplicate it. If you see this problem, please send a bug report.

Fixes and improvements compared to previous 6.3.4.2 pre-release:

  • Quick Editor Improvement: If you have the Quick Editor switched ON when closing a document, it is automatically started next time when you open that document. Also, the quick editor now wraps its buttons better in a smaller window. Moreover, you can now force it to appear on one line only by a button “Show Buttons in Single Row” at the end of the toolbar.
  • Document Groups Improvement: Now you can specify a Start up group of documents on the File menu so that WhizFolders always opens those documents on start up.
  • Performance Improvement: Performance of opening documents has been improved. Also, we have observed that if you are using “wrapped topic titles” in the topic list, the document opens slower due to technical limitations. So please use that option sparingly. Another tip on opening speed–if you are not carrying over any toolbar customizations from previous versions, please do a reset toolbars on the Document Window. This should improve the opening speed. When you customize toolbars, a little time is spent on loading your toolbar customizations.
  • Windows 7 related fix: On Windows 7, the right pane with the viewer didn’t resize properly. Fixed.
  • Tab Font Improvement: Earlier there was no way to change font for the document tabs. Now, if you change the font size of Main Document List by right-clicking on it, the same font is then used for document tabs.
  • Status Messages Improvement: Many messages inform about the completion of an operation. This is helpful for the beginners. But experienced users may want to switch these messages off. Now, they can be switched off on the General Options–Confirmations page.
  • Add Topic Improvemnt: After adding a new topic, if you change your mind, you can press ESC to quickly remove it.
  • Windows Taskbar Fix: If Windows Taskbar was aligned to the left of Desktop, WhizFolders didn’t restore its windows to correct positions. Fixed.
  • Toolbar Improvements: The following improvements are related to toolbars. You may or may not be able to see a particular improvement if you are upgrading from a previous version and replacing an existing WhizFolders installation. This is so because you previous verison’s saved toolbars are not overwritten. If you are NOT an advanced user and have not customized any toolbars, you can simply do a Tools–Reset Toolbars on each type of window to see the latest toolbars.
    • Some unnecessary buttons have been removed from the toolbars. Also, because of the new tabbed interface, the beginning areas of the toolbars on the Main and Document windows have been made similar.
    • The status bar area can be switched off on the Folder Window’s toolbars by right-clicking.
    • WhizFolders automatically remembers your toolbar customizations if you do any. But now you can also save the Document Window’s toolbars from the Tools menu. This helps you transfer your toolbar customizations to another computer.
    • We have worked hard to improve migration of toolbar customizations from Pro to Deluxe editions and vice-versa.
