Do you sometimes see a message related to RichEdit 4.1 when WhizFolders starts?
Update Note:We have fixed this problem in WhizFolders 6.1.
Known problem in WhizFolders 6.0 and earlier:
Sometimes when starting up, WhizFolders 6 gives a message asking to switch off the use of RichEdit 4.1. This message is harmless and you should always say “No.” This is a bug that is fixed in the new version 6.1. Meanwhile, here are some important points that you should understand on this problem:
- Always say “NO” to this message otherwise WhizFolders will start using RichEdit 3. That will remove the new features related to tables. Tables and table tool works well only with RichEdit 4.1.
- You might have unknowingly clicked on Yes to switch off the use of RichEdit 4.1 in WhizFolders. If you are in doubt whether WhizFolders is really using RichEdit 4.1, you can check that by the menu Help–About. Click on the Status button and see the report that will show the “RichEdit version in use.” It should be 4.1. If it is not, you can switch it ON again. To do that, click on Tools–General Options–Editor and switch on the last option “Use the newer Microsoft msftedit.dll.”.
- To avoid this message, please always exit WhizFolders first before you shutdown or log off from Windows. Note that WhizFolders does not exit if you simply close the main window. It might sit in the task bar depending on your options. You need to exit WhizFolders by the menu File–Exit (or by the toolbar button that shows a picture of a door on the top right). If you always do this before shutting down Windows, you will not see the above message.
The RichEdit message can only be genuine if it is not coming due to the shutdown problem mentioned above in 3. So if you always exit WhizFolders before shutting down Windows and you still see that message, please do write to us.
